EASE is a fundamental enabling technology of the application value chain. By providing developers with a tool for rapid application development, EASE allows for nearly immediate deployment of Internet-based business solutions. Built specifically to address the high cost and complexity of building dynamic e-business Web applications, EASE enables the development of sophisticated, data-driven Web sites on a variety of platforms commonly utilized by Web hosting providers. EASE substantially reduces the time and cost of developing and deploying e-business applications for the Web by utilizing a simple scripting language. Because of the simplicity of the scripting language, EdgeNet believes that this platform lends itself to the establishment of an open source software development network. EdgeNet provides the EASE technology free of charge to any interested developer at the easeforum. EdgeNet is committed to garnering a significant market share and will do so by freely distributing EASE. Unique Application Metering Technology - The second enabling technology underlying the application value chain is EdgeNet's Patent Pending unique application metering technology. The unique application metering technology allows EdgeNet to track application usage across all servers connected to the Internet. The unique application metering technology reports deployment and usage of applications. EdgeNet is electronically notified each time an EASE-based application is added to a server anywhere in the world. Furthermore, EdgeNet is able to actively monitor the usage of those applications at the individual user level. Metering is defined as tracking application and user level software usage as opposed to hourly time based tracking. The combination of EASE with the unique application metering technology provides a platform for application development, deployment and tracking. The tracking allows EdgeNet to invoice and collect recurring software revenues. In cases where applications are deployed through the reseller network, EdgeNet invoices the reseller who, in turn, collects fees from the small business users. When appropriate, EdgeNet will host and deploy applications on its own servers and invoice business customers directly. Since tracking is conducted on the application level, EdgeNet has the ability to disburse royalties to application creators. EdgeNet intends to provide lucrative royalities to the developer as compensation for application development. |
